Import and Export Agents[NEW]
Overview
Agent Import & Export (Asset Promotion) packages a fully configured agent, including its sub-agents, tools, and custom functions, so it can be promoted across environments and workspaces. Tested agents no longer need to be recreated manually in each environment.
Export an Agent
- Export the agent from its Agent Profile page.
- Before exporting, review the hierarchical dependency preview, which lists the sub-agents, tools, and EKG references included in the package.
- Credentials are stripped at export, so no sensitive values travel with the package.
Import an Agent
- Import the package from the Expert Agent Studio landing page.
- The platform validates the package before import and shows a preview of the agent.
- If a name conflicts with an existing asset, rename it inline before the import runs.
- Sub-agents and dependencies are published and linked automatically during import.
- The root agent is always imported in Draft state. Review it, test it, and then publish it.
- Import status is retained across page navigation. If the import fails because of a system error, you can retry it.
- If an import fails, every partially created asset is rolled back automatically.
Because credentials are never exported, tools in the imported agent need credentials in the target environment. Refer to Using Credentials in Assets to know more.
Audit and Lineage
Every export and import action is captured with full audit and lineage information, providing traceability for governance and compliance across agent promotions.
Benefits
- Eliminates manual agent recreation when promoting tested agents across environments
- Speeds up promotion of agents across environments with guided export and controlled import
- Maintains security by ensuring credentials are never exported with agent configurations
